Did you ever have one of those days when it feels like everything you touch turns to shit? It feels like nothing is going your way, you have this black cloud hanging over your head, and you end up thinking, “And the hits just keep on coming!”. We’ve all been there.

It Can Become a Way of Life

The problem comes when one lousy day turns into another and another and soon, it becomes a way of life.  It’s okay to have a day like that here and there; we all do.  Allow yourself to feel frustrated, disappointed, and even sad about whatever it is that put you in that place.  Then, let it go.  When you carry the energy from a difficult experience into the next experience, you can expect more of the same.

If you’re not ready to let go of a scarcity mindset and move to of place of abundance, you may not be ready. If you’re fighting to stay in “victim mode”, refusing to forgive others and are not ready to let go of it, your energy won’t change.  If you’re living in the past and refusing to live forward with all that is possible, life will continue to be a bitch.  Haven’t you been hurt enough? Are you tired of giving all of your focus and energy to what went wrong and having nothing left to give to anything positive in your life?  Then it may be time to change.  What do you have to lose?

Gratitude is Powerful

Have you ever heard the expression, “Life’s a bitch and then you die”?  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Life is a gift.  Sometimes it’s hard to see that when you are in the middle of struggling, but if we take just a moment each day to focus on what we do have, what we’re grateful for, it could make all the difference.  It’s not that difficult once you’ve made the choice; it really is up to you to decide what type of energy you bring into each day.

Some people will keep a gratitude journal.  Each day they write down several things they are grateful for, but it’s not necessary to be that structured.  Just spending a few minutes each morning before you start your day, or a few minutes before you fall asleep at night to acknowledge all the positive things in your life, can make a huge impact.

It can be as simple as being grateful for a wonderful meal or your comfortable bed.  You can be grateful for a walk with your dog or the ability to feed your family.  If you really stop to consider how many things are right in your life, and what you do have, it will help you to receive more of it.  Sounds crazy, I know, but if you spend all your energy thinking about what is lacking in your life, you are bound to stay in that place.

We all Have Those Days

This is not to suggest you should just quit your whining and that others have it worse; that you have no right to complain.  We all have moments when we feel hopeless, heartbroken, defeated and more. When you’re in the middle of a difficult situation, it really can feel like it’s impossible to get on the other side of it.

Don’t brush it under the rug.  Spend some time to feel it, cry, laugh or whatever you need to do to acknowledge it.  Then let it go.  It’s done.  Don’t stay in that place.

Live in a Better Place

Sometimes the people that have the most joyous lives are the ones that seem to have the least.  The difference between them and you is that they practice gratitude for everything they have in their life instead of focusing on the things they don’t have.

So, when you have one of those particularly crappy days, it will be much easier to let it go and get back on track if you can shift your focus and try to put yourself in a state of gratitude.  It’s a much better place to hang out.

Life really is an amazing gift.

Sorry for the poop picture.
